Active shooter incidents are happening all too often in the United States and they can happen anywhere at any time. This program is designed to educate and empower attendees with information to help them prepare for and respond to an active shooter incident. Topics include:
-Statistics on active shooter incidents
-How to respond
-What fear induced stress does to the body?
-How to choose the correct response
-What to expect from law enforcement?
-How you can help prevent an active shooter incident
The response methodology taught can be utilized in any situation and is a simple, straight forward approach that is easy to understand. Please join us for this enlightening and possibly life-saving training.
About the presenter:
Cpt. Watson has been with the Winchester Police Department since January of 2001. He currently serves as the Criminal Investigations Division and SWAT Team Commander. Cpt. Watson is a certified defensive tactics instructor and a firearms instructor. He is also a Department of Homeland Security Instructor for Prevention of and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents and an Active Shooter Instructor.
During his career Cpt. Watson has worked extensively with the schools, businesses, and child care centers in Winchester to improve security and safety measures to include security assessments, review of emergency protocols, and training. Since 2013 Cpt. Watson has provided active shooter response training to over 2,000 citizens including staff of Winchester Public Schools, two private schools, Valley Health System, First Bank, the City of Winchester, Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum, along with many other businesses and non-profits.
