Marijuana and Firearm Confiscated from Juveniles

On August 28, 2024, at approximately 2:23pm, the WPD Criminal Investigations Unit (CID) along with the WPD Community Response Team (CRT), executed a search warrant and found six packages (3.5g each) of marijuana and an illegally possessed Kel-Tec 9mm semi-automatic hand gun, which led to the arrest of two juveniles.

A 14-year-old was charged with a probation violation and a 15-year-old was charged with 18.2-308.7 Possession of a firearm by a juvenile, 18.2-460 obstruction of justice, and two counts of 18.2-57 Felony assault and battery on a Law Enforcement Officer. Detention orders were issued for both juveniles and they were transported to the facility. A third juvenile was released to his mother.
