Eric Darrell Wilson, 33, who is wanted out of Maryland for assault in the second degree, was arrested by Winchester Police last night.

At approximately 6:21 p.m. on September 30, 2024, WPD officers were dispatched to the area of Summerfield Lane for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle who were uncooperative in identifying themselves.

Utilizing investigative tools, the officers were able to identify the occupants of the vehicle and discovered they were affiliated with a wanted fugitive, Wilson. Upon further investigation and admittance of one of the occupants, it was determined Wilson was there prior to law enforcement arriving and left the area on foot.

A picture of Wilson was distributed to the shift officers. Approximately one hour after the search began, Wilson was located near Valley Avenue and Jubal Early Drive and was detained without incident.

This arrest highlights our department's ongoing commitment to proactive policing measures, focusing not only on apprehending criminals but also on preventing crime before it happens, ensuring the continued safety and security of our community.
