Winchester Police Chief separated from the City, City to begin search

WINCHESTER, Va – This afternoon, Amanda Behan was separated from the City, effective immediately. 

Amanda has served as a sworn Police Officer since 2001 and as Police Chief since 2022. The City appreciates her service to the community and wishes her well in her future endeavors.

Acting Chief Josh Berry will continue to serve as Interim Police Chief while the City begins the process of recruiting our next Police Chief. Interim Chief Berry and his team will continue to improve residents’ quality of life by preventing and addressing crime in our City.

The City will provide further updates to residents as the search for our next Police Chief progresses so they can engage in the process and make their voices heard.
